Daredevil Brit influencer dies after falling from Spain's highest bridge

He fell to his death trying to get content for social media, officials say

Officials in Spain have said that a British influencer and daredevil has died after falling from the highest bridge in the country.

He was a 26-year-old British man who died yesterday (13 October) in Talavera de la Reina after he fell off the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge, which is 192 metres high at the tallest point.

The bridge is located to the west of Madrid and when it was opened was criticised for being a waste of money that didn’t have much traffic going across it, earning it the disparaging nickname ‘bridge to nowhere’.

A call for them was placed at 7:14am on the Sunday morning but all they could do was confirm that the man had died after falling off the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge.

The daredevil’s body was recovered from the scene and taken to a funeral home.

They added: “As we have been able to find out, they had come to Talavera to climb the bridge and create content for social networks, which has resulted in this unfortunate and sad outcome.”

A spokesperson for Spain’s National Police in Toledo told the Metro that the 26-year-old Brit was ‘about 40 to 50 metres up’ when he fell, and that neither he nor a 24-year-old man who was with him were wearing safety gear such as harnesses.

They added that the initial call was made by ‘a passing motorist’.

In their statement they said that the younger man was ‘in a state of shock initially and couldn’t even speak’ when they arrived on the scene, adding that he had since left the police station.

They said that the reason why the 26-year-old fell would be investigated, and that they were not planning to charge the 24-year-old with anything.

A decision to sanction him for illegally climbing the bridge would be left up to the local town hall.

The Mirror reports that a pair of bloggers previously climbed it without any protective gear, and that something similar occurred in 2016.

The bridge was opened in 2011 and climbing up it has always been prohibitedInfluencer shares aftermath of £150k McLaren crash after he was on phone then filmed bloody passenger

The car took the brunt of the impact

An influencer who crashed his expensive supercar while on his phone and a live-stream has shared the aftermath on social media.

YouTuber and streamer Jack Doherty went viral after he crashed his McLaren into the railing of a busy highway in Miami, Florida.

He was live streaming his driving on Kick,a platform which has since banned him, at the time he crashed his car.

While he and his passenger Michael, who was sitting in a passenger seat, were not seriously injured, they were checked over by the emergency services and went to hospital afterwards.

The Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is investigating the crash which left the car badly damaged but fortunately did not result in the driver or passenger being too badly hurt.

Footage of the incident showed Doherty handing his phone to his bloodied friend so he could continue to be filmed.

Posting on social media after the crash, Doherty put up footage showing him sitting shirtless on the barrier he’d crashed into by the site of the road.

Other clips had him inspecting the damage done to his car, and looking at how the front end is rather comprehensively crumpled it’s probably not in the sort of condition to be driving again.

He had also shared videos of himself and Michael in the hospital afterwards while the cameraman was getting his stitches.

Some have even called for him to serve ‘jail time’ for being on his phone while driving his car.

Others have claimed that the crash was ‘staged’ and wrote about their suspicions since he ‘managed to film every single moment of the crash’ and provided a content creator with a lot of content.

More footage of the crash had Doherty shouting for help inside the car and trying to break the windows, before handing his phone to someone trying to help him out asking them ‘can you hold this’ while they carried him out.

Liam Jones was on board the MSC Euribia

A man has been presumed dead after falling overboard a cruise ship in the North Sea.

Liam Jones had been aboard the MSC Cruises vessel MSC Euribia on a seven day holiday for his mum’s birthday.

The Dundee man was last seen on board the ship on 16 March by his sister.

“This was reported to the authorities. The police in Southampton boarded the vessel today (22 March) and investigated on behalf of the coroner.

“We are deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time.

“Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will refrain from disclosing any additional information.”

Family Collect

It has been revealed that Jones had texted his wife a final heartbreaking message to say he was ‘feeling seasick’.

Jones’ wife Sophia Mcphee told the Daily Record she last saw her husband on 14 March when he left their home in Dundee, the day before he and his family boarded the ship that departed from Southampton.

“I feel so lost. He’s just…gone,” Mcphee told the Daily Record of the experience of hearing about the sudden loss of her husband and the abrupt news that he had gone overboard and was presumed to be dead.

She received a message from her husband’s sister telling her there had been an accident involving the 23-year-old social work student.

She said she was first contacted about the tragedy by her sister-in-law on 17 March and was told Liam ‘wasn’t coming back’ after an accident.

“She then said she had seen CCTV and he’d gone overboard,” the 20-year-old wife of Jones explained.

In a statement provided to LADbible about the matter from Hampshire Police’s Detective Sergeant Gary Stamp he said: “It is believed the passenger went overboard in French waters.

“We continue to liaise with authorities in France and are assisting them with their investigation.”

Woman, 24, dies after undergoing six cosmetic surgeries in just eight hours through surgeon she found online

Viviane Lira Monte spent 22 days in intensive care before she passed away

Brazilian police are investigating a plastic surgeon whose 24-year-old patient died after she went through six procedures in an eight-hour session of surgery.

Viviane Lira Monte went under the knife on 31 August for a number of surgical procedures, including liposuction, a breast reduction and having the fat that had been extracted pumped back into her backside.

However, she developed a massive infection in her abdomen and spent 22 days in intensive care before dying of heart failure on 26 September.

Police have told local media they’re now investigating her death as ‘suspicious’, while her family said she’d been allowed to leave just 15 hours after her eight-hour surgery session and very quickly started suffering from complications.

Suffering from serious pain, her family took Viviane to an emergency care unit where she was very quickly rushed to hospital and placed in intensive care.

Her husband Renan Santiago said: “She vomited blood, recovered, but she was never stable.

“There was a lot of inflammation and infection because of the surgery. She couldn’t breathe, but they still managed to reanimate her, and they got her intubated, but she just couldn’t make it back.

“We saw her die little by little. It was 22 days of suffering without good news.

Her husband has claimed that the cosmetic surgeon who carried out six procedures on Viviane is to blame.

Santiago accused the surgeon of offering his wife a discount if she went in for more procedures, and then insisted on being paid a £42,000 fee in cash.

“He saw that she was bad but went to Rio de Janeiro. He abandoned her and did not give her support,” Santiago said.

“When I contacted him and said she was serious in the ICU, he said that she was going to be fine, that it was only a matter of time, that it would work out and calmed me down.”

He said that the surgeon only visited her in the ICU a few hours before she died, and her family said it was ‘an injustice that he abandoned her to go travelling’ when she was unwell.
