Sydney Sweeney, known for her breakout roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, recently set the record straight about her financial independence.
The 27-year-old actress has been the subject of rumours suggesting her fiancé, 40-year-old Jonathan Davino, financially supports her.
Sweeney addressed these assumptions head-on in an interview with Glamour magazine, where she made it clear that she is fully responsible for her own finances.
“I’m a very successful, independent woman who’s worked really hard,” Sweeney declared.
She emphasized that she provides not only for herself but also for her family, saying, “I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself.”
The misconception, likely fueled by the 13-year age gap between her and Davino, led to unfair assumptions about their relationship dynamics, which Sweeney was quick to dismiss.
Sweeney also opened up about how her upbringing shaped her financial mindset.
Coming from a family that “lost everything,” she admitted, “I am terrified of that.”
“That fear will always be instilled in me.”
The Anyone But You star described her relationship with Davino as a partnership, saying, “We’re teammates.”
After her successful turns in Euphoria and Anyone But You, she is gearing up for several major releases.
One of her most anticipated films is Eden, a thriller directed by Ron Howard, which is set to debut in 2024. The film is based on a true story and features an all-star cast, including Vanessa Kirby, Ana de Armas, and Jude Law.
Another project in the pipeline is Echo Valley, a thriller for Apple TV+ where Sweeney stars alongside Julianne Moore and Domhnall Gleeson.
Sweeney is also attached to the highly anticipated remake of Barbarella, a sci-fi classic where she will take on the titular role of the space-travelling heroine.
Hugh Grant, star of the Bridget Jones‘s Diary franchise, has revealed that the upcoming fourth film Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy will take a more somber tone.
The actor, who is reprising his role as Daniel Cleaver, described the movie as “very, very sad” during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
The film is based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel of the same name and will see the Oscar-winning actress Renée Zellweger return as the iconic Bridget Jones.
In the story, Bridget navigates life as a single mother of two after the tragic death of her husband, Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth.
Grant said, “She had a sad story. She got married to an American screenwriter, she had children and then he died.”
He explained that Fielding had initially begun writing a novel about a woman raising her children alone before realizing that the character resembled Bridget Jones.
He added, “She made it into a Bridget Jones book, and as well as being extremely funny, it’s very, very sad.”
After not appearing in Bridget Jones’s Baby, Grant admitted that he initially felt there was “absolutely no role” for his character in the new instalment.
However, the production team managed to find a way to include Daniel Cleaver in the story.
Grant, whose character was known for his womanizing ways in the earlier films, shared his thoughts on how Daniel Cleaver’s storyline has evolved.
“I felt that what they proposed was fine, but not great,” he said, expressing concerns about portraying Cleaver in his 60s as unchanged.
“You can’t just have him smoothing his way down King’s Road eyeing up young girls.”
The actor worked with the team to create a more layered narrative for Cleaver.
Grant further explained, “Something needs to have happened to him in the interim. So we invented a rather good – I invented a rather good – interim story.”
“It’s actually a very good and moving script. And I say that as someone who’s horrid about scripts. This was brilliant.”
Hugh Grant’s Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is set for release on February 14, 2025.

Joker 2 director Todd Phillips finally explains cutting out Lady Gaga ‘kissing a woman’ scene
Potential spoilers inside.
Joker: Folie à Deux set photos earlier this year revealed Lady Gaga kissing another woman in character as Lee Quinzel, however, the scene was revealed on the big screen to have been cut out of the movie.
This left fans wondering why the scene was cut following the movie’s theatrical release.
Director Todd Phillips spoke to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview to explain.
The kissing scene was supposed to appear before one of Arthur Fleck’s court appearances in the newly released Joker sequel, the titular character played by Joaquin Phoenix.
Gaga’s Lee Quinzel is released from Arkham and then goes to support Arthur in the courthouse.
As she walks up the stairs, she dances and sings before entering the building, however, in the original version – she passes a group of protestors on the steps before kissing a woman from the crowd.
“It had dialogue in it, and, all of a sudden, I wanted it to be more of a music and vibe moment,” Phillips told Entertainment Weekly.
