Netflix cancels Kaos despite people watching all eight episodes in one go

Kaos starred Jeff Goldblum as Zeus in a reimagining of Greek mythology

Netflix have shockingly cancelled Kaos, the Jeff Goldblum led Greek mythology show.

This comes despite the fact that the series was one of the top shows on the platform, topping Netflix globally for a period.

Variety has confirmed the news after actor Aurora Perrineau hinted at the cancellation last night on Instagram.

While Variety have not yet confirmed the reason why the streamer have cancelled the show, it will be baffling to fans.

In addition to spending days at the top of Netflix’s most watched list – the show also received an impressive score of 76 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and 7.5 on IMDb.

Perrineau played Eurydice in the show, and starred alongside Goldblum’s Zeus, Killian Scott’s Orpheus, and Nabhaan Rizwan’s Dionysus.

When asked about the possibility of further seasons, creator Charlie Covell said: “The idea is three seasons in total. So, that’s what I have kind of in my brain… I would love to do more.

“There’s lots of things forming. I’ve got an idea of what the plot is.

“But no, there’s no script, just lots of fevered documents and stuff that only I would probably understand at this point. But the main story is clear in my head.”

In a post, which Perrineau since been taken down, she said: “Well… this one hurts.

“I find explaining how I’m feeling to be really difficult, but I’ll try.

“When I started auditioning for this show, I knew it was special, mainly due to the fact that Charlie Covell’s scripts resonated with me in a way most things hadn’t. I knew all of these people, and I loved them all — every flaw, everything.

“For one of the first times in my life, I have found myself really proud. I’m, of course, proud of everyone’s work and the care they gave to this project, because, let me tell you, they left everything on the floor.

“But I’ve also found myself proud of me, and that is something I’ve struggled with.

“When I got cast, I couldn’t believe that someone SAW me. A girl who’s not only a minority but also a survivor of SA — and you’re telling me that someone thinks I could be one of the leads of a show, have agency, my own mission, and be desirable enough to be the love interest to not only one amazing human but two?

“I was worthy of that?

“Everything that happened from that point forward really changed my perspective.”

Netflix viewers all have the same complaint after watching its number one movie

Netflix viewers all have the same complaint after watching its number one movie

People have a lot of thoughts on the new Netflix movie

Netflix viewers are all saying the same thing after watching the platform’s number one movie.

The film dropped on the streaming platform on 19 January, but viewers have been left questioning some aspects of the sci-fi over on social media.

The film is set in a dystopian London where the gap between rich and poor has been stretched to breaking point.

As social housing is being eliminated, pretty much all that remains is ‘The Kitchen’, where the local community leader is Ian Wright’s character, a charismatic DJ called Lord Kitchener.

The Kitchen follows Izi (Top Boy’s Kane Robinson) and 12-year-old Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman).

While Izi is planning to leave The Kitchen, he’s confronted with some tough choices, especially after meeting Benji.

The film was co-written, co-directed and produced by Daniel Kaluuya, alongside Kibwe Tavares, Joe Murtagh and Daniel Emmerson.

The Kitchen follows the story of Izi and Benji, and weaves in themes of community, class, family and inequality.

While many have been watching the film expecting to see a sci-fi action movie, some have been left baffled over the plot and the message that The Kitchen is trying to convey.

Others have been grappling with the storyline and struggling to make much sense of it.

“I watched The Kitchen on Netflix and think it’s fair to say I’m confused,” one viewer wrote.

While another said: “That movie the kitchen on Netflix had me confused lol.”

And a third added: “I’m like 30 minutes into watching the kitchen on Netflix and I’m genuinely so confused as to what the hell is going on.”

A fourth said: “Ngl The Kitchen on Netflix was the most pointless film ever how did it just end like that.

“It could have been so good if it had a properly storyline and ending.”

One even said it ‘had no storyline’.

“Just dramatic for nothing. Didn’t make sense.” they continued to say.

“@netflix I just watched ‘The Kitchen’ and I’d like to make a formal complaint,” said another.

Some said the film might have been better structured as a series instead. But others had the opposite view, with many praising the cast especially.

“Kane Robinson slays as always in The Kitchen. Daniel Kaluuya and Kibwe Tavares nailed it!” Said one.

Another added: “Have you watched the kitchen on netflix? if not throughly recommend it.”

While it received an ‘Audience Score’ of 58 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave it an overwhelming 84 percent.

This could definitely be a ‘love it or hate it’ situation.

Fool Me Once writer reveals one thing that’s totally different about new Netflix Harlan Coben series

Fool Me Once writer reveals one thing that’s totally different about new Netflix Harlan Coben series

The writer of Fool Me Once spoke to us exclusively about the follow up

The writer who brought Fool Me Once to TV has hinted that there is one thing totally different about his next Netflix adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel.

We spoke exclusively to Danny Brocklehurst, the man who brought Coben’s iconic novel to life for Netflix.

The show was always going to be a success, but no one could have predicted the incredible response.

Fool Me Once is now one of the top 10 shows in the history of Netflix.

Brocklehurst is also the writer behind Brassic, yet another hit show that is dominating Netflix of late.

Unsurprisingly, the streamer is keen to keep him around and capitalise on the success of Fool Me Once, and have already ordered two follow-up adaptations of Harlan Coben novels.

The greenlit ones were Missing You, and Run Away.

While Missing You will not be written by Brocklehurst, but instead by Victoria Asare-Archer, he will serve as an executive producer.

However, Run Away will be penned by Brocklehurst, and in our exclusive interview with the Fool Me Once TV creator, we asked him what viewers could expect from the follow up – and what would be different about the show from Fool Me Once.

Brocklehurst said: “I think there’s a sort of formula to our Harlem thrillers. You know, they’re very twisty-turny. They have great hooks.

“But Fool Me Once had this sort of real mystery baked into it, how does a dead man appear in the nanny cam?

“Which I think people really kind of ran with, you know, it’s very difficult to get that every time, because that’s a very, very big concept.”

Regarding his new Coben thriller, however, he said: “I think Run Away is not quite as big a concept.

“It’s got, you know, it’s got a reasonable concept to it, but what we’ve leaned into there is that it’s sort of emotional roller coaster of it all for the characters.

“So, it will still be the same sort of twisty-turny, thriller-y, hook-y formula, but with perhaps a little bit more sort of family-based emotional content.”

“Fool Me Once was really, you know – once you were on that thriller track, it just went for it.”

With the novel already out there to tear through in preparation, Netflix have released the following synopsis for Run Away – and it sounds like a doozy.

It reads: “Simon had the perfect life: loving wife and kids, great job, beautiful home. But then his eldest daughter Paige ran away and everything fell apart.

“So now when he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home.

“But it turns out she’s not alone and an argument escalates into shocking violence that will shatter Simon’s life all over again.

“His search for his daughter will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever.”

Personally, I can’t wait.

Netflix releases first look at Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders movie

Netflix releases first look at Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders movie

It’s time to dig out your flat caps once again

Netflix has released a first look at Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.

The final season of Peaky Blinders may have come to a divisive climax back in April 2022 – however fans are well aware that the story of notorious Birmingham gangster-turned-businessman Tommy Shelby was far from over.

Following the finale it was confirmed by series creator and writer Steven Knight that he would finish the Shelby story in a feature length format – with the project later being picked up by Netflix.

Two years on and it seems there is finally movement on the project, with Netflix sharing images of Murphy and Knight together as well as one of the Irish actor in character.

Taking to X, the streamer wrote: “By order of the Peaky Blinders… Tommy Shelby is back. Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production officially starts on the upcoming Netflix film.”

Our first look at Tommy Shelby back in action gives very little of away in terms of what to expect from the upcoming film, with the character donning his signature suit and looking pensive while facing the camera side on.

Eagle-eyed fans were able to notice one difference from the photo, as a now greying Shelby appears to have finally ditched his ‘short back and sides’ haircut for a less drastic look.

“Rip to the tommy shelby cut you will be missed by everyone but cillian murphy,” one person replied, while a second simply added: “TOMMY’S HAIR????”

What do we know about the Peaky Blinders film?

Other than the return of Tommy Shelby and World War II, very little is known about the upcoming film as cast and crew understandably want to keep their cards close to their chest.

It’s currently reported, as per Deadline, that Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth will be joining Murphy, however any details about their characters are yet to be revealed.

As for a release date, nothing has been confirmed yet. However, as production has only just got underway it’s likely that we won’t see the film until late 2025 at the earliest.

“I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders,” Knight said of the project in a statement.

Director Tom Harper added: “There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary.”
