Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves star in first trailer for John Wick spin-off Ballerina

Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves star in first trailer for John Wick spin-off Ballerina

The film will be the last of Lance Reddick’s career, as the beloved actor tragically died in 2023 at just 60 years old.

A teaser was released yesterday ahead of the trailer, which hinted towards the vibe of the film.

With ‘Fur Elise’ by Beethoven playing, it hints to de Armas’ role as Eve, aka The Ballerina.

The film was directed by Len Wiseman, who directed several of the Underworld films.

It sees De Armas star as an assassin whose family are taken from her in a John-Wick-esque revenge tour.

One fan on Twitter was hyped for her role as the assassin action star due to her previous performance in No Time To Die.

They replied to the trailer saying: “Ana de Armas was in ‘NO TIME TO DIE’ for 5 mins and stole the show.

“So glad she’s finally getting her own action film.”

Another reply said: “Looks so good. Hyped to be back in the John Wick universe again.”

A third reply said: “Yeah, I’ll be seated on opening night.”

The trailer reveals that the official name is The World of John Wick: Ballerina.

One fan on Reddit noticed that the official John Wick account on Twitter got changed to ‘The World of John Wick’, pointing to the spin-offs planned for the film series.

As well as Ballerina, it was announced that a TV series called The Continental was in the works.

With the role being the last of Lance Reddick’s career, film fans will be heartbroken to see the legendary actor appearing for a final time.

Reddick died last year was announced by a coroner to have been because of heart disease.

This, however, was disputed by his family, who pointed to his physical fitness.

John Wick co-star Keanu Reeves paid tribute to the late great actor, saying: “We worked together on four films over ten years.

“He was a remarkable artist and a special person with grace and dignity.

“I guess what comes to mind right now is the first time that I met him and we worked together on John Wick, he had this idea for the way that he wanted the character to speak and just his enthusiasm and passion.

It was one hell of a good answer

It’s ok though, people feel like John Wick can shoot his way through a bunch of bad guys because they keep starting it, most famously by killing his dog.

Anyhow, Reeves was appearing on The Stephen Colbert Show and was chatting with the world’s biggest Lord of the Rings fan when he was asked a rather challenging question for a talk show.

“What do you think happens when we die, Keanu Reeves?” Colbert asked him.

Blimey, as questions go on what’s supposed to be an entertaining talk show that one gets pretty damn heavy. Fortunately, Keanu Reeves was pretty unflappable and gave a very good response.

It was quite a question to deal with. (The Stephen Colbert Show)

He said simply: “I know that the ones who love us will miss us.”

This drew sympathetic noises from the audience and some people also started applauding.

Reeves and Colbert would revisit the moment years later, and the actor said he’d stick with the same answer he gave back then.

Some people who watched the moment wondered what sort of question that was supposed to be as it really seemed to put Reeves on the spot, and thought he ‘answered beautifully’.

Plenty thought that the actor gave the ‘correct answer’ to an ‘impossible question’, saying that you ‘cannot go wrong whatsoever with that answer’.

It’s just one moment in a plethora from a career of Keanu Reeves being an all round nice guy people see as respectable.

People praised him for coming up with such a touching answer. (The Stephen Colbert Show)

Back when he was filming Dracula he said there was a moment when he and other people working on the film were meant to shout abuse at Winona Ryder in order to make her cry, but Reeves and some of his co-stars declined.

Elsewhere in his life he’s been seen taking time out of his day to play catch with a kid when he was on the way to a concert to perform with his band.

Oh yes, in case you didn’t know he plays bass for the band Dogstar which seems pretty cool.

He’s managed to juggle that and his acting career, which has been going on for decades and will hopefully continue for many more.

Fans praise ‘immortal’ Keanu Reeves after watching his first ever line on TV

Fans praise ‘immortal’ Keanu Reeves after watching his first ever line on TV

The Matrix actor gave his first line on TV almost 40 years ago

The actor has racked up a wealth of credits through his long-running career, which has seen him star in the likes of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures, The Matrix and John Wick.

On top of all of that, Reeves has well and truly established himself as a Good Guy – someone fans are delighted to see in a film cast or in the lineup of a chat show – and he’s apparently done it all without aging a single day.

Impressive, right?

Reeves is now just one year away from the big 6-0, and it’s been nearly 40 years since his first credited role, which he landed in 1984.

He spoke on TV for the first time in the series Hangin’ In, which, like an ’80s version of Sex Education, told the story of teenage counselors dealing with a myriad of problems affecting young people at a youth drop-in center.

Reeves first TV line came in 1984.

Footage of Reeves’ appearance has recently resurfaced online, and if it weren’t for the camera quality, you could almost convince yourself that he filmed it only yesterday.

In the clip, Reeves plays part of a group of teens ready to eat the house and home of character Maggie after they’re welcomed inside.

Reeves isn’t necessarily the star of the scene, but his lines made it to TV as his character asks Maggie where they can find some towels, and jokes about eating all the cake they have to offer.

And nostalgic fans can’t get over the actor’s appearance in the scene, with many struggling to get over the fact that he looks basically the same today.

“He still looks nearly [now] the same after decades. No wonder they call him immortal,” one person wrote after watching the clip.

Keanu Reeves has hardly aged since his first onscreen appearance.

Another gushed: “He was so good looking!! I mean WOW … he still is. (That is why I’ve had a crush on him since 1987 lol).”

Though his first performance is still beloved by fans, it’s safe to say that Reeves has come a long way since then.

After Hanging’ In, Reeves earned credits in a number of other TV series and TV movies before landing a role in the 1986 film, Youngblood, alongside the likes of Patrick Swayze and Rob Lowe.

Most recently, Reeves appeared in the fourth instalment of his John Wick franchise as well as landing a role in the Cyberpunk 2077 video game

Winona Ryder accidentally got married to Keanu Reeves while filming a movie

The pair may be bonded in a way that wasn’t evident on screen

In a bizarre twist of events, Winona Ryder once accidentally married Keanu Reeves while filming a movie together.

But let’s face it, accidentally tying the knot with ‘Hollywood’s nicest guy’ definitely isn’t the worst thing to happen, right?

Winona Ryder has been making headlines this week after the trailer for Beetlejuice 2 dropped, seeing her revive her role as Lydia 36 years on from the original movie being released in 1988.

The 52-year-old will be returning alongside Michael Keaton, who plays Beetlejuice, as well as Catherine O’Hara.

The original film is beloved for a multitude of reasons and it helped kickstart Ryder’s decades long career in Hollywood.

Along the way she’s had chemistry with leading men like Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands and David Harbour in Stranger Things.

But with one co-star she got exceptionally close – unintentionally.

If you cast your mind back to 1992, you might recall that Ryder starred alongside Keanu Reeves in Dracula.

The two had a wedding scene in the movie, and director Francis Ford Coppola wanted it to be as authentic as possible. He may have taken it to the extreme, however…

Ryder recalled: “We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to God, I think we’re married in real life.”

Given that the priest in the scene was a legit man of the cloth, there was always a good chance there’d be some blurred lines.

“We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married,” Ryder said.

I think I can speak for many people when I say there’s worse fates in life than being married to Keanu Reeves.

This admission came during the press tour for their second movie together Destination Wedding, which was released in 2018.

It seems Reeves didn’t have quite the same memory as her as when she asked him: “Don’t you remember that? It was Valentine’s Day,” he eventually surrendered: “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”

In the 1992 adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic vampire novel, Ryder played Mina Harker, the vampire’s main obsession, and Reeves played her fiancé.

Ryder revealed in an interview how Coppola tried to get Reeves to make her cry by hurling abuse at her – which the actor refused to do.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Ryder recalled a scene where Dracula – played by Gary Oldman – transformed into a pile of rats.

Meanwhile, behind the camera, Coppola repeatedly shouted insults at her and attempted to get the film’s male cast to follow suit – so that her crying would be believable.

“To put it in context, I’m supposed to be crying,” Ryder explained to the newspaper.

“Literally, Richard R Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu… Francis was trying to get all of them to yell things that would make me cry.

“But Keanu wouldn’t, Anthony wouldn’t … It just didn’t work. I was, like, really? It kind of did the opposite.”

Winona Ryder had a bad experience with Francis Ford Coppola on the set of Dracula

Winona Ryder has revealed that Keanu Reeves refused to hurl abuse at her when making Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

The 1992 film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is based on the classic novel by Bram Stoker – and reportedly saw Reeves and Ryder accidentally marry each other.

The story follows young barrister Jonathan Harker (Reeves) who is assigned to work in a village in eastern Europe.

However, he is soon captured and imprisoned by Dracula (Gary Oldman) who travels to London in search of Harker’s fiancée Mina Murray (Ryder).

Dracula then attempts to seduce and terrorise Mina’s closest friend, Lucy Westenra (Sadie Frost), as their group gets together to try to drive Dracula away.

You can take a look at the trailer below:

In an interview with The Sunday Times on her 50th birthday, Ryder – who is set to reprise her role of Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice 2 this year – recalled a scene where Dracula transformed into a pile of rats.

Meanwhile, behind the camera, director Coppola allegedly shouted insults at her, including “You w***e!” – and attempted to get the film’s male cast to follow suit – so that her crying would be believable.

“To put it in context, I’m supposed to be crying,” Ryder said in the 2020 interview.

“Literally, Richard E Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu… Francis was trying to get all of them to yell things that would make me cry.

“But Keanu wouldn’t, Anthony wouldn’t … It just didn’t work. I was, like, really? It kind of did the opposite.”

Based on the classic 1897 novel by Stoker, Coppola’s adaptation was nominated for four Academy Awards, and won three of them, for Best Costume Design, Best Sound Editing and Best Makeup.

Viewers largely rated the film, which has received a solid 77 percent Tomatometer score and a 79 percent Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Here is a great filmmaker working at the height of his powers, blending a specific auteur vision with the needs of a massive blockbuster (the film grossed over $300 million worldwide), to develop a unique and hypnotizing experience,” one critic wrote.

“An unparalleled and unforgettable telling of the Dracula drama in operatic terms,” another added.

“In keeping with the operatic and overly histrionic approach to the material, the film’s performances are almost uniformly dialed up to 11,” wrote a third.

Ryder said in the interview that, despite the incident, she and Coppola are ‘good now’, adding that the incident really solidified her friendship with Reeves.

The actors have since worked together three more times, most recently on 2018’s Destination Wedding, but also on Richard Linklater’s 2006 feature A Scanner Darkly and 2009’s The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.
